Embracing your Inner Warrior
Your Inner Warrior
Embracing our inner warrior refers to nurturing and utilizing those aspects of ourselves that are courageous, strong and resilient, just like the warrior archetype. This can significantly help us gain the ability to face fear in a healthy way. I’ve been contemplating a lot lately on the connection between courage and our inner “I can” attitude. There was a time not to long ago that the world felt, looked and operated completely differently according to my own perspective. Living with my fear goggles on left me feeling like my lenses were murky; not only was I blinded from the path in front of me, I doubted every step I took along the way. Cultivating a connection with my inner warrior archetype helped me feel present with my inner bad-ass, especially on the hard days.
Here are six ways that embracing my inner warrior helped spark a new level of commitment in my de-conditioning process, shifting the doubt to an internal “I CAN” perspective:
Cultivating Resilience - we learn to take life’s hits and keep going, but it’s not just in our ability to take what’s being thrown at us. It’s the discernment to know that we are involved with the right challenges, meaning we are committing to the correct opportunities so that in both our successes and mistakes there is valuable wisdom to be gained. Embracing our inner warrior helps us cultivate this resilience because we learn the value of healthy resistance, or the healthy no. We feel resilient when we feel anchored, like we are truly capable of weathering life’s storm in its current season. It allows us to bounce back from setbacks and challenges that can provoke fear or overwhelm when we don’t feel grounded or centered.
Developing Courage - Embracing our inner warrior is like shifting into a new perspective of our own life, where no challenge is too great, and in any battle the underdog keeps the advantage. We can face terrifying situations with bravery. It’s something that gets commonly overlooked - how profound developing courage can be for a person who lives partly or in majority from these fear-based frequencies. That used to be me, so all I can say is that it gets better, but you need to develop that courage or even the smallest shift in internal weather patterns can feel like a wave that could destroy an entire city.
Building Self-Confidence - Warriors are able to trust their abilities and skills, even when they aren’t sure that it will lead to victory. By embracing our warrior mindset, we build our self-confidence and self-belief that we have exactly the abilities and the skills we need in order to live freely as ourselves. And if we don’t have them in hand, we have the ability to collect them along the way. Remember, courage is not something we are born with. It’s something we cultivate. The more confident we are, the less power fear has over us. And in this case confidence comes from being able to tap into the source within us of deep wisdom. That place within the body that just knows where to guide us. This is the secret of body-led decision-making. It reveals before you the confidence that’s been within you all along - that you DO have what it takes to fulfill your purpose.
Staying Grounded in the Present Moment - Warriors need to stay focused and present, especially in the days and hours before heading off to battle. Similarly, when it comes to forming a healthy relationship with our fears, it’s not really a battle we are entering. It’s actually the opposite of a fight. This is about surrendering to the present moment. Our inner, courageous, dynamic warrior self is most focused on the harmony and peace of all subtle energies within, in the coming together of the body and mind and emotions into one unifying experience and expression of self. Our inner warrior utilizes this process of cultivation to build a new world, from the inside out. And when it comes to cultivating a different world from the inside-out, our key to this inner transformation is actually through the breath. Staying grounded in the present moment can prevent us from becoming overwhelmed. It helps us to not get swept away by past-oriented mistakes or future-oriented uncertainties.
Developing Perseverance - We learn in this process of cultivating courage that we have the ability to see things through. We do not have to keep giving up on ourselves. By nurturing this quality of perseverance, we can learn to form a healthier relationship with our fears with more self-compassion, regardless of how many times we stumble along the way.
Practicing Discipline - Discipline is Success. I heard that in an interview recently. With discipline, we can achieve what we really want in life. Incorporating structure into our lives in this way, such as maintaining healthy habits and consistent routines, can help us manage our fears effectively.
Your willingness to face your fears is the most courageous thing you can do for yourself. Our courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to navigate the challenge with grace and in alignment with healthy, body-led decisions that support us in achieving calm amidst the seasonal storms of life. The light of our inner courage can be seen in every moment we choose self-awareness and self-understanding. It reveals itself in every present moment where our focus is guided upon the recognition of the divine within oneself and in everyone and everything you see along this path of life.
